It is wonderful and painful to finish writing a story. It is your baby. It is you, poured out on the page. You know that it isn’t really finished, though, since you still have to edit it. You need to shape and prune it like a topiary. There will be words that need to be taken out, and some that need to be added to make it truly what you envision.
